Why the Wall

Finishing What Brick-By-Brick Started

Our Brick-By-Brick campaign began by repairing the damage nearly 100 years of Minnesota weather had done to the bricks of our historic building at 1601 University. Phase 1 restored the South, East and West sides of the Chapter House, and Brick-By-Brick funds also paid for painting, a security fence and heating repairs. The job wasn't finished, though: the porch wall still needed to be rebuilt and tuckpointed.

Today the rebuilt porch wall, capped in stone, is complete. The $50,000 project was finished on October 18, 2026, and 53 donors have supported it so far.

A landmark in a historic district
The Delta Chi Minnesota Chapter House is a Tudor Revival house in Minneapolis's Greek Letter Chapter House Historic District. Caring for it properly keeps a piece of Minneapolis and University of Minnesota history standing.
